Brutus Monroe - Fabulous Fibers Hop

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. The Brutus Monroe inspiration team is hopping today with these cool Fabulous Fibers. These are super unique, and I haven't any other products like this that are marketed towards paper crafting! Our team has created some really neat projects with these fibers. The feel like tinsel, and they have a really pretty iridescent shine to them. The "Wallpaper" stencil makes me think of the roaring 20's, since it has an Art Deco vibe, so I decided to turn the fibers into a flapper-style fringe! I started out by stenciling the glitter glaze of the month, which is called "Carnation", onto a piece of Alabaster cardstock. I can't wait to do more with this stencil because it's so beautiful! I set it aside to dry and stamped the sentiment in Raven detail ink. I fussy cut around the edge and backed it with foam tape. When the stenciled panel was dry, I used my paper trimmer to cut a strip of it off. I ...

Brutus Monroe Hop - Happy New Year

Image
Hello crafty friends, and happy New year! Today the Brutus Monroe inspiration team is sharing new year cards! I always think of new year's as a glitzy, glittery night... Even though I'll be in the couch in my PJs! #MomLife , right?? I started with the stencil of the month, which has a glamorous art deco vibe, and the glitter glaze of the month which is opaque white and called "Frosted Window Pane". I can't wait to play with both of these some more! I stenciled it on a piece of Alabaster cardstock and left it to dry. On a scrap of Alabaster cardstock, I heat embossed the letters using Gilded Sparkle EP, and filled in the outline letters with Gilded aqua pigment. When they were dry, I fussy cut around all the letters, and stuck small pieces of foam tape to the backs. I arranged them on the dry stenciled panel, and then adhered them down, and popped the whole panel up on a Not Your Mama's card base. I glued gold and translucent sequins to the front to...

Brutus Monroe Hop - Favorite Product

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for joining me today on my blog. It's another Wednesday blog hop for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team, and the theme this week is "Favorite Products"! I had a hard time choosing a favorite...there are so many fun products. My first Brutus Monroe love was the embossing powders, but in the last year, I think I've enjoyed the glitter glaze the most! I've created two cards using the glitter glaze to share with you. One of the cool things about glitter glaze is that the backgrounds don't need much added to them. Both cards have such a bold, sparkly background that all I had to do was put a sentiment on and call it a day! For this first card, I used the colors Lilac, Sugar Plum, Grape and Raspberry. Lilac and Plum Perfect are colors from the Glitter Glaze of the Month subscription. I really enjoy the subscription because the lighter or darker shades that arrive often help me make a pretty ombre effect when combined with the exist...

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for popping over to my blog today! It's Wednesday, which means blog hop day for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team. Today's theme is DecoFoil! Have you ever done any foiling? Brutus Monroe has partnered with ThermoWeb to create their own exclusive line of craft foils and printed toner sheets. If you've never heard of ThermoWeb, check them out on social media! They have a huge range of cool crafty products, and some amazing collaborations with some amazing companies in the craft industry. If you've followed my crafting for a while, you'll know that I love foiling! There's a common misconception about foiling, that you have to have a lot of equipment to use the foils. Not true! There are a lot of different ways to foil. Some of the products and techniques do require a laminator, but today I'll also give an example of a technique that does not require any machines. For this first card, I used silver sketch foil and strips...

Brutus Monroe Blog Hop - Anything Goes October 2019

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. It's another blog hop Wednesday for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team, and the theme is "Anything Goes"! Once a month our hop has no theme or specific product that we're showing. Today I'm sharing this sparkly gold fall card! I started by using the Glitter Glaze of the month from September, called "Leaf Pile". It's hard to accurately capture the color on camera! It's a GORGEOUS golden color with tiny flecks of red and green. I used it with the Stencil of the Month from September onto a panel of Alabaster cardstock and set it aside to dry. I heat embossing the wreath from the "Fall Y'all" stamp set onto aqua pigment paper with Gilded EP. I used a water brush and color burst powders to color the images in fall tones. After it was dry, I heat embossed the sentiment into the middle, also with Gilded EP. I trimmed down the colored panel to a square, and adhered it to...

Brutus Monroe Blog Hop - Color Crush

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Today is another Wednesday Brutus Monroe blog hop, and our assignment was to use this gorgeous picture as color inspiration for a project! My project today was one of those cards that did NOT turn out how I originally intended! Over the course of a couple days it morphed into a tall, odd-dimension creation. I started out by using the stencil of the month on an Alabaster cardstock panel, and blending Sunflower and Lime glitter glazes in an ombre. Then I decided I wanted the pink and orange tones instead, so I made another separate panel with Raspberry, Pumpkin, Tangerine and Sunflower. I couldn't decide which one I wanted to use, and ended up attaching them so that the color blending went all the way from pink to green! I trimmed down the panels a little bit and attached them together where the yellow areas connected. To cover the line where they connect, I glued a diagonal strip of Alabaster cardstock. I heat embossed t...

Brutus Monroe Blog Hop - May Subscription Items

Image
Hi crafty friends! Thanks for joining me today. It's Wednesday, which means blog hop day for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team. This week we're sharing projects with some subscription products for May. I'm using the stencil of the month which is absolutely gorgeous!  I tinted some fallen snow with Green and Blue neon aqua pigments, and mixed some together to create a turquoise transitional shade. They still react with blacklight, but they are somewhat toned down when they are mixed with the glaze. I mixed some Blue and Green neon aqua pigments together to make the turquoise shade and painted a scrap piece of aqua pigment paper. I heat embossed the sentiment in white, and die cut it with one of the hexagon nesting dies. I cut the next size up hexagon out of Alabaster cardstock and layered them together, slightly turned for more interest. I popped the whole thing up on an Alabaster card base.  The neons are so beautiful even without the blacklight! I am e...

Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Hop - March Subscription Items

Image
Hi crafty friends, thanks for stopping by! Today the Brutus Monroe inspiration team is blog hopping with some of the subscription products for March. My project used the stencil of the month, glitter glaze of the month and the stamp of the month! For my card I started with a panel of Alabaster cardstock and used the stencil of the month with the Glitter Glaze of the month, a shade called "Sparkling Coral". True to its name, it is a gorgeous sparkly coral color, perfect for spring or summer! While the background dried, I stamped the tulips from the stamp of the month with Raven detail ink, and colored them with Zig clean color real brush markers, and I blended them with a sparkle pen. I fussy-cut the tulips and set them aside. I used the Raven detail ink again to stamp the sentiment onto Alabaster cardtock and trimmed it into a long banner shape I die cut the curved shape from a piece of Alabaster cardstock and used foam tape to pop it up on the bottom of the glitte...

Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Hop - Micro Pearls

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog. The Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team is blog hopping today with projects that feature the new Micro Pearls. These teeny spheres are so pretty, and they're great as embellishments and shaker elements. Today I chose to use them in conjunction with Brutus Monroe glitter glaze! I started with the February stencil of the month, and I applied 4 colors of glitter glaze to make a blue/green gradient. From the bottom up, the colors are Berry, Glacier, Teal and Mint. While the glitter glaze was still wet, I poured the clear micro pearls over the whole card panel. I poured it over a coffee filter to catch all of the excess pearls and easily pour them back into the container. I VERY gently pressed all over, to ensure that the pearls stuck well to the glitter glaze. I set the panel aside to dry and stamped the sentiment in Oz surface ink, which coordinates well with the Teal shade of glitter glaze. I added a couple of clear acrylic bu...

Blog Hop de Brutus Monroe - Glitter Glaze - español

Image
¡Hola amigos!

Brutus Monroe Hop - Glitter Glaze!

Image
Hi crafty friends! Para la versión en español, ¡ haz click aquí ! I had the hardest time choosing what projects to use for this hop, which showcases the Brutus Monroe glitter glaze ! I have a TON of projects with it, and I really really love it. I own all the colors, and I subscribe to their glitter glaze of the month club as well. I can't get enough! The glitter glaze of the month club is 8.00 shipped, and you'll get an exclusive color sent straight to your door every month! For the first project, I used the colors Berry and Glacier, which is the November glitter glaze color of the month! It's a really gorgeous icy blue color. To make the ombre background, I take a little scoop of each color and mix it together on my glass mat to make a transitional color. This helps create a smoother flow between colors and no obvious lines. I taped my Snowflake stencil to the Alabaster cardstock panel using purple tape , and began to spread the darkest color Berry along the b...
