Anything Goes August 2019 - Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for dropping by today. It's blog hop Wednesday for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team and the theme is "Anything Goes" so we had free rein to create whatever we wanted! This card came together fairly quickly. As usual, I can't get enough of the aqua pigments. I used Orange-Yellow, Magenta and Blue brushed across a panel of aqua pigment paper, and dried it with a heat tool before adding another layer. I splattered some of the Yellow-Orange and Magenta on the background when it was dry. Then I heat embossed the butterflies with Alabaster EP onto aqua pigment paper and painted the same colors over it. I fussy cut the butterflies and slightly bent them in the middle for a 3D effect. I took some of the watercolor paper flowers and the plain white paper flowers and used hot glue to adhere them to the card front, along with the butterflies. I stamped the sentiment from the Rock On stamp set in Marsala surface ink, and fussy cut them ou...

Interactive Card - Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for joining me today. It's another blog hop Wednesday for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team, and this is a really fun hop! The theme this week is "Interactive Cards", so be sure to hop around to everyone's blogs for super cool inspiration. My card features some big chipboard pineapples, sketch foil and some neon aqua pigments! I started by coating the top of the pineapples with DecoFoil transfer gel and the "body" of the pineapple with white gesso. When it was dry, I ran them through my laminator with green sketch foil for the green spiky tops. I used Neon Pink and Neon Yellow aqua pigments to paint the pineapple, and when it was dry, I used Sunflower glitter glaze with the July stencil of the month over it. I splattered the Neon Pink, Neon Green and Neon Yellow aqua pigments onto a piece of Raven cardstock and allowed it to dry. For the mechanism to make the pineapples wiggle, I follow this YouTube tutorial ...

August Subscription Items - Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop

Image
Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog! It's a blog hop Wednesday for the Brutus Monroe inspiration team, and we're sharing projects made with some of the subscription items for the month of August. The inspiration box for this month is Steampunk themed, and has some amazing pieces in it! For this project, I stamped this gorgeous balloon on a panel of Lunch Bag cardstock with Raven detail ink. I used a white gel pen to add some accents and make it pop against the cardstock. I splattered some black paint across the background as well. Then I stamped the "Happy Birthday" from the previous Rock On inspiration box onto the Lunch Bag cardstock as well with Raven detail ink, and used scissors to fussy cut around the words. I popped them up with foam tape on the card front, and then matted the whole panel first on Alabaster cardstock and then Raven cardstock. I posted a more involved mixed media piece last Friday on the Brutus Monroe blog. If you'...

Aqua Pigments - Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop

Image
Hello crafty friends! It's another blog hop Wednesday for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team, and this week were playing with Aqua Pigments! For those of you who don't know, aqua pigments are liquid watercolors and Brutus Monroe offers quite a selection of colors, including metallic collections. They also offer a subscription where you get one new exclusive color each month. I used a wet-on-wet technique for this background, and the colors Pink, Yellow-Orange and Gilded. I started by brushing the aqua pigment paper with clean water, and I dropped the Pink and Yellow-Orange aqua pigments directly onto the wet paper, which causes the color to "bloom". I used a heat tool to dry it, and then splattered those two colors along with the Gilded aqua pigment onto the paper. I dried it again with the heat tool. I used a fan-shaped paintbrush to gently brush DecoFoil Gel onto the edges of the painted area, and then ran it through the laminator with Champagne DecoFoil. This...
