Summer Camp Blog Hop - Scrapping For Less Guest Design Spot

Hello crafty friends! Thanks for stopping by! I'm excited and proud to share this post with you...I am guest designing this month and next month for Scrapping For Less! This month the theme of their Flavor of the Month Card Kit is "Summer Camp".

Lots of folks love summer camping and kids love going to camp. Growing up I did a variety of day camps, and now as an adult I enjoy overnight camping with my husband's family. The kit this month is all about camping and the outdoors! So grab your computer, a beverage, maybe go out on your back porch (so you are outdoors) and hop along and view the most wonderful inspiration from the Scrapping for Less Design Team and guest designers! You can purchase your kit from the subscription page...links for 1x purchases are in the paragraph to the left of the slider on that page. Make sure to enter the rafflecopter for a chance to win a past kit.
Hope you enjoy this month! Happy Camping!

Collection 1: The first project I'm sharing is a card made with the first collection, which includes the "Under the Stars" papers by Scrapping for Less, and the "Happy Camper" stamp set by Sunny Studios. Let me just tell you, the paper in this collection is GORGEOUS! Beautiful deep blues and silvers with geometric shapes and night sky prints. And how cute is this little camper?? I colored it with my Zig markers and used my paper trimmer to slice up pieces of the different papers for the horizontal strips, vertical banner strips and the larger circle. I die cut the white circle and stamped the sentiment towards the bottom, and then popped the camper up above it with some foam tape. I finished the card of with some beautiful gray adhesive jewels and star sequins, both of which were included in this collection.

Collection two included the "Camping Plaid" papers by Scrapping for Less, and the "S'more Friends" stamp set by LDRS Creative, designed exclusively for this card kit. I decided to create a scene card with these cute little critters, and used masking fluid to set up this scene. I blended distress inks for the ground and sky, and Zig markers to color the scene images. I used some brown sequins scattered across the ground, and dotted some extra little stars in the sky with a white gel pen.

Collection 3 came with the "Camping No. 1" papers from Scrapping for Less, and the "Happy Trails" stamp set from Pink & Main, designed exclusively for this card kit. I loved the adorable bears in this stamp set, and the sequin mix, so I decided to make a shaker card. I stamped and colored the bears and the camp sign with Zig markers, and fussy cut them out to place around the frame. The collection also included some cool metal-framed tags which would make great decorations on a gift bag or treat box, but I decided to include it as a card element this time. I finished it off with some pretty green and white baker's twine that was also included in the collection.

Collection 4 had a really lovely color palette; it included the "Summer Camping" papers from Scrapping for Less, and included the stamp set "Camping Cuties" which is also by Scrapping for Less. Along with the stamps and papers, it included a pretty shaker mix with blue and white and sheer beige sequins, and really cool leaves from Darice. I couldn't decide which papers to use, so I die cut a variety of circle sizes from my favorite coordinating papers. I stamped the camping gal and colored her hair, skin and backpack with my Zigs, and then I stamped her on two of the patterned papers so that I could paper piece her shirt and shorts. I fussy cut the shirt and shorts and glued them onto the stamped image to give the appearance of a printed fabric. I die cut a large circle frame from the white cardstock image included, and glued the leaves around the inside. I positioned the die cut circles around the left side of the cardstock panel, and popped some up with foam tape. I positioned the leaf circle towards the open right side, and glued the girl on the edge. I trimmed off anything that was hanging over the edges, and then finished it off with the sentiment and some of the sequins from the mix.

The final collection is the Banana Split add-on pack, which included a super cute word die that says "Explore". I made a simple slide-out box from the Tangy Orange cardstock, and cut pieces of the cute camping print cardstock to fit. I added half circles to the corners and strips around the middle to make it look like a suitcase.

I also took a slightly thicker strip and rounded the ends with my scissors, and then curved it with my bone folder and glued it to the top for the handle. I used two of the gray jewels to look like the bolts holding the handle on. I die cut the word "explore" four times from the Kraft cardstock, and glued them together for a more dimensional element, and glued them to the front. I stamped the compass and the wooden sign with black ink and colored them with my zig markers. I fussy cut both images and used a hole punch in the top of the compass to tie it to the handle with some of the green and white baker's twine. I used foam tape to adhere the wooden sign. The box is a perfect size to fit a gift card!

I also filmed a tutorial for this suitcase box which is available on my YouTube channel!
