Brutus Monroe Hop - Favorite Product

Hello crafty friends! Thanks for joining me today on my blog. It's another Wednesday blog hop for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team, and the theme this week is "Favorite Products"! I had a hard time choosing a favorite...there are so many fun products. My first Brutus Monroe love was the embossing powders, but in the last year, I think I've enjoyed the glitter glaze the most! I've created two cards using the glitter glaze to share with you. One of the cool things about glitter glaze is that the backgrounds don't need much added to them. Both cards have such a bold, sparkly background that all I had to do was put a sentiment on and call it a day!

For this first card, I used the colors Lilac, Sugar Plum, Grape and Raspberry. Lilac and Plum Perfect are colors from the Glitter Glaze of the Month subscription. I really enjoy the subscription because the lighter or darker shades that arrive often help me make a pretty ombre effect when combined with the existing core colors! To make a really smooth transition between colors, I actually take a tiny bit of the two shades and mix them together on a craft mat and spread them in the transitional area. So for example, to smooth the change from Lilac to Plum Perfect, I scooped a little bit of each onto the craft mat and mixed them. I started on the stencil with Lilac at the top, then scraped the mixed shade under it, then the Plum Perfect next. That was followed by a mix of Plum Perfect and Grape, then Grape, then a mix of Grape and Raspberry, and finished off with Raspberry. I doesn't take much time at all, and makes a really pretty gradient effect! There's nothing wrong with definitive lines between each color either! I simply wanted a smooth fade in these particular projects.

While that was drying, I blended "Aubergine" and "Plum" inks onto some Alabaster cardstock and heat embossed the "Joy" with Alabaster EP. I fussy cut around the sentiment and then adhered it to some Vellum, and cut around that as well. I popped it onto the background with foam tape and put the whole front onto a white card base. Easy peasy!

For the second card, I used the exact same process to make a smoother gradient. This time I used the colors Sunflower, Sparkling Coral and Flamingo. It's such a bright, sunshine-y mix of colors! I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment in Rouge surface ink and then stamped it again in Embossing Ink, and heat embossed it with Icicle EP (clear).

Using the same technique as the previous card, I fussy cut the sentiment, then adhered it to vellum, and fussy cut the vellum as well. I again popped the whole panel up on a white card base and that was it!

Glitter glaze packs a dazzling punch as a card background, or can add nice sparkly accents to your projects! I hope you try it out! If you haven't checked out the rest of the hop yet, be sure to jump to Berina's blog to see all the other favorites!
